”If you can read this, thank a teacher.”

There’s a bit of a meme going around the blogsphere where people talk about their relationships with books.

I’m not going to do it, because I don’t do memes.

But I would like to take this opportunity to talk about my relationship with books.

I used to know a few and would take them out on dates, and stuff, but never seemed to get past second base...

I used to read all the time.

I was even a panellist for a national radio book club.

I even figured I would end up writing books one day. Probably some slasher-series about a talking stove that goes around gassing people to death because they laughed at him for being a talking stove.

Anyway, I USED to read a lot of books.

Nowadays I just wait for things to come out on DVD.

I reckon that if you can’t condense something down into 2-hours of cinema, then what’s the point?

What’s my favourite book?

The Lorax, by Dr Seuss. I like the pictures.

See Spot Run comes a close second. It’s action-packed and keeps you guessing right to the end, but it has some big words in it that do make it a little hard-going in places.

Oh, for those wondering how my mum went with her biopsy: Everything’s Fine.

I’m pleased.
She spent last Christmas in hospital, seriously ill, so I’m glad she decided not to be so selfish and pull a repeat of that this year.

Geez. What some people will do for a little attention…
