I need a beer...

"This is the remix to Ignition..."

This is my first Weekend in 10 weeks.

Well, when you’re sick and stuck indoors, weekends are pretty much the same thing as weekdays. Except you tend to get more Bible bashers knocking on your door.

God am I ready for this weekend!

Returning to work was harder than I thought it would be. Even with the going in late and leaving early and having long lunch breaks.

(Well they say it's good to get back into your regular pattern as soon as possible).

Just been so exhausted.

I need sleep

Without waking

To crying kids...

How To Feel Like A Fraud, Lesson #34:

Remember Cancer Dude?

He came up to me today and said he'd heard I'd been ill, and how terrible that must have been.

This is a guy -- in his 20s -- who was told before Christmas that if he was his sister's age (7) or his father's age (old), he would probably be dead.

This is a guy who underwent fast-tracked surgery for Christmas to remove bowel (I was originally wrongly told that it was testicular) cancer. They got most of it. Which means they didn't get all of it. So he's started a six month course of chemotherapy. Which will then probably continue for the next couple of years.
He has no idea of prognosis.

So anyway...yeah, he's all concerned about my absence. So I thought, well, shit, I better try and make my (non-lifethreatening) ailment sound as serious as I can.

So I came out with:

“Yeah, there was a patch there for about five weeks where I couldn’t even make custard. Fuck it was terrible.”

Well, it WAS terrible. Off all the things that can turn to custard, I'm pretty sure custard is meant to.
