Thyme won't give me thyme.

I see you baby, Shaking that assonance…

I don’t do a lot of reading these days.

I don’t even read the articles in porno mags anymore. I just look at the pictures.

And if a novel’s any good, then it usually gets made into a movie, so why bother going to all of that effort of spending days reading the book, when it can be all pretty well summed up in a couple of hours of film?

I guess I generally just don’t have the time to read, what with my little side ventures selling arms to the Koreans and legs to the Chinese.

That said, I have found myself captivated by two good reads lately.

I’m reading both these reads at the same time, which proves I can multitask. And read.

The first one is Scar Tissue, an autobiography by Anthony Kiedis, the lead singer of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

All that needs to be said is that the dude definitely puts the sex and drugs in Rock n Roll.

The other book is also an autobiography.
It’s written by fellow blogger Cosmic Crayola, and is called If You're Looking for Warm and Fuzzy, Buy a Dog! - The Making of a Grandma.

It’s funny, well written and should serve as an excellent model for anyone who is considering going down the self-publish route. In fact, it’s so good that I don’t think I’ll ever bother doing my own. Well, there’s that and the fact that my memory isn’t so good, so … well that sort of makes it hard to write memoirs if you can’t rememoir them.

I’m about halfway through both books.

The only problem with reading a chapter of one then the other though is I keep forgetting whether it’s Cosmic or Kiedis who is the one that keeps getting wasted on heroin and goes about shagging supermodels and asking Deborah Harry to marry them….

I’ve also found some time to pick up the guitar and record something.

I’ve also found that I sound very congested trying to sing when I have a cold, but I get so few opportunities to play these days without being told to shut up before you wake the kids
and I have to come down there and beat you
, so I took it.

It was partly inspired by conversations I’d had with a couple of friends (women) and their views on relationships. One of them said she totally in love with her boyfriend, but there was someone else she also liked. In a "I’m-having-sex-with-them" sense.

The rest was from observational stuff and experiences travelling around eastern Europe.

My thanks to Bud Buckley’s Chord Wheel for giving me some other chord options and tuning tips, etc, and sparing you guys what was originally an even more boring song.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but in the meantime you can click here to listen/download.
