Well.
This may be my last entry for 2006.
Its Christmas Eve. That means tomorrow its Christmas. They day when Jesus died. Or was born. Or something. I dont really remember too good.
He was a Jew though, wasnt he?
Makes you think.
Anyway. Its Christmas. Then were off camping for a week and a bit. That means no power or phone line. Ill try and post a little something I prepared earlier during that time. It just depends on whether I find time to prepare a little something before I leave.
I have been busy giving away home-made beer and kowhai trees to friends.
I gathered the seeds, then grew them. This is not easy, seeing as the trees tend to grow on river banks and then cast their seeds into the water, where they spend months being smashed over rapids until they find the perfect spot to put down roots.
But I managed to grow them without putting them in the washing machine first.
My dream is that one day the trees, with help from the beer, will grow strong and overthrow the humans and reclaim the earth.
Friday marked the last day of work for a fortnight. We did Secret Santa, which is where you pull someones name from a hat and spend $10 on a gift.
I went to a lot of effort. I got to know the person I was buying for and discovered that he liked playing guitar and listening to Asian music (hes Chinese) and Christian rock.
Jesus.
So I went out and bought a pick holder and the left over cash on an assortment of guitar picks (because he wants to learn guitar solos, so I figured hed need them).
Then I put together a CD of western music for him, and professionally labeled it.
AC/DCs Back in Black and Led Zeps Stairway to Heaven were on the track list. Because I figured they were good Christian songs.
He loved it.
And what did someone get me for my $10 Secret Santa gift?
$2 worth of Bubbles, from the $2 Shop.
Fuck you, Santa!
They say its better to give than receive.
I gave the bubbles to D-Girl. She loved them.
How did I spend the first day of my holiday? (Yesterday).
Painting the house.
It started raining five minutes after we started painting.
We kept painting.
We didnt even stop when the light rain turned into a violent downpour and started washing the paint off the house and down the drain.
Because we are Hard Core.
Hard Core Stupid.
Oh yeah:
Happy New Year!
And its pretty much Christmas here now (in like 45 minutes), so, if you can handle the thought, Happy Christmas!
Or whatever you celebrate in your Non-Metric System world.
Merry XXXmas?
Mmmmmm.
As I said, I dont know when Ill be back here. Im on holiday till the 8th, but bits of that holiday have yet to be planned, and they are all weather-dependant.
If youre worried, you could join my Notify List .
Otherwise, I suggest you compulsively check back here every day to see whether Im back.
Peace out.
