Weekend was good.

  • Hosted a major family gathering.
  • Went on a field trip for a night school course I’m doing.
  • Received death threat from guy who resembled a famous rugby player
  • Wrote a song

The extended family thing was a pre-Xmas party, because we don’t seem to gather at Christmas any more.
There were no acts of mass murder, so it was considered a roaring success.

The field trip was bad timing, seeing as it started early the morning after the party, so I wasn’t around to help clean up.
What I didn’t count on was returning, heat-stroked from being outside in the hot sun all day, to find it all still waiting for me. Bah!

The death threat was a road rage-related incident.
A guy nearly crashed into me because he tried undertaking me as I was turning into a driveway.
I had my indicator on. He was speeding. He beeped and threw abuse at me. I got out of my car. Not to hit him. It just felt safer being out of my car.
I don't think he was expecting me to get out of my car. I don’t think he was expecting me to be bigger than him. I think he was hoping for some elderly Chinese lady driver.
He had no comeback for me (calmly, and politely, of course) asking what the fuck he was yelling about, when he was clearly in the wrong, except to threaten to strangle me with a chain I was wearing around my neck as he sped off in his BMW.
So I called the cops and reported it as a threat to kill.
According to the newspapers he was unarmed when the caught him, but they tasered him to death anyway. Sucks to be him.
He resembled All Black captain Richie McCaw. But I’m finding I get a far better response when I tell this story to people if I tell them it actually was Richie McCaw. So, yeah. Richie McCaw threatened to kill me.

Add him to the list.

The song is something I wrote after a friend told me last week about the feelings he was experiencing after an ex-girlfriend told him she wanted him back. The title is his metaphor.

I gave him a worktape version of the song for his birthday today.

Here it is below. The vocals are a little scratchy (-er than normal). But then so would yours be if you’d attempted a dozen takes previously and fucked up every single one in the final verse. Bah!

Enjoy.
