Christ, it's Christmas.
24 December, 2007 ---- 10:32 PM

Do you have any idea how hard it is to squeeze in cookies, a reindeer carrot and a pint of milk when you’re already full of festivities?

Burp.

Santa’s signature has been forged. The sacks for good girls, stacked with presents.

We’ll watch them open them tomorrow morning with most of the inlaws.

We actually had the inlaws’ Christmas day on Saturday, because that was the only time they could all get together this year.

But we’ll have D-Missus’ parents and her sister for brunch tomorrow.

We got the extended family party out of the way last month.
So that just leaves my family, at a beach house, tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight we celebrated Christmas Eve with friends and then took the kids for a drive up Franklin Road, where all the houses and shops were decorated with lights.

Normally I hate crowds, traffic, and venturing into the city after dark, but the 1km/h crawl up the road was worth it, because the kids loved it.

We sang carols in the car the whole way.

It’s weird, because for some reason most of the Christmas carols mention snow and things roasting on an open fire, but as everyone knows, Christmas is in December, and December = summer time.
So, no snow. No fires. Except BBQs. On the beach. In shorts. And singlets. And jandals.

I only like the carols about the baby Jesus anyway.

My favourite bit is where we all gather around and sing Happy Birthday, Jesus, and then open his presents for him. And then we go away and play with his presents. Which is sort of like how my eldest daughter was at my youngest daughter’s birthday party last weekend…

Anyway. Bloody hell. Xmas.

Have a good one, my friends. I’m off to the beach for a few days.

Jingle all the way…

Christmas in the summertime.
There's no snow, but there's still
presence.
