"I wish I was a radio song, the one that you turned up…"
14 March, 2008 ---- 9:50 PM

Don’t get too excited, but a song I wrote has just entered the Top 100 on a Kiwi radio station.

Rock on.

It’s a radio station in a town with a population of just over 1,000 people. But they have their own radio station. And if you live there, or within a 25km radius, you can hear my song. I haven’t, because I’d need to drive there… or within 25km of there, but I’m told it is getting massif airplay.

And they say that once you crack that radio station, then you can pretty much guarantee that you’ll play to packed sheep shearing stations anywhere in the North Island.

Just across the estuary though is a very popular holiday settlement, which swells to a population of 15,000 over the summer months, so if it stays on air another 8 months, maybe it’ll get heard by a couple more people.

It’s one I did with that “band” I’m in.
I’ve played it here before.

Oh god, can’t be arsed going back through my archives to find it.

Oh Ok.
Here.

This was the original worktape.

Anyway. With that “band” I’m in.

I put that in commas, because it was really just me getting together with a friend and his friend.

We don’t get together enough to call ourselves a real band. We will probably never play live. We did record another of my songs during the summer holidays, but the member with the home studio has gone and got himself a busy new day job, so that one will probably never see the light of day.

So I really just view that as a collaboration exercise.

Unless that song goes No. 1 on that station with a broadcasting range of 25km. In which case, we may need to make some t-shirts to sell.

Yeah.

Anyway.
I’ve been busy working on new stuff anyway.

I’ve been waiting for Harmonica Dude to come over and lay down some tracks for a couple of new songs.
We always talk about music and stuff, and I could tell he was kinda jealous when I did the “band” recordings, so I thought I’d write something that he could get involved in.
Unfortunately, he also has a busy job and has to keep cancelling.

What the fuck is it with these people letting their jobs get in the way of Rock and Roll?

Anyway. So the last time he cancelled (Wednesday night), I thought I’d do something productive. So I did a worktape of a new song that doesn’t require anyone else, but me.

Although, I’m thinking about approaching David Bowie to do some backing vocals if this one ever takes off.

Enjoy.

Oh, and for those who missed my wedding anniversary song earlier this month, it can be found here.
